💰 Day 14 building an investment tool from scratch.
There’s been a bit of a pause for a few days while I spent time on RMW, let my agents work on the backend, and became a Costco member.
Anyway, we’re back.
I’m now working on what will be the public special situations screener. For now, focused on cash merger arb deals.
The idea is to build the best screener of this kind out there. And make it free.
For now it includes:
- Specific filters to find opportunities I haven’t seen in any other tool (wow!)
- Filter presets and the ability to save your own combinations.
- View presets and the ability to create your own.
- Tags to follow, label, or ignore deals.
Basically, everything I think you need to have the best merger arb opportunity screener I’ve seen so far.
And this is just the beginning.
Next will come more detailed data on each deal, tracking tools, the events calendar, historical studies, etc.
But let’s get started with this.
By the way, if you know of any tool that does all this better and is free, please let me know.
I don’t think even the paid ones offer all this, but that’s exactly why I want to know if there’s something I’m missing.
I’m also rethinking the launch strategy a bit.
My initial idea was to monetize with a paid tier from day one, but I’m increasingly sold on the “generate flow -> monetize flow” approach.
First get people using the product, bring them a ton of value, and then find the best way to monetize it.
I need to think it through a bit more.
