Novus Value update (my next project)
The account has grown quite a bit over the last 6 months, and I’ve been working on a few things without sharing too much; so here’s an update:
→ Novus Value is a tool I’m launching in alpha this summer to read SEC filings using AI. A few people have had private access to it — though some features were open too, but that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Over these months, I’ve been learning about product, improving Novus’s infrastructure, collecting data, and ultimately thinking more about the product. Why wasn’t I convinced?
→ It doesn’t pass the Mom Test
→ Too ambitious
→ It wasn’t a good enough idea
The main problem is that I don’t have much time, since I have a full-time job (a pretty demanding one) + gym + partner + Twitter/X. That doesn’t leave me much time to work on the side project.
So I’ve tried to iterate a bit over the last few months and find solutions. And that’s what I’m here to talk about:
What’s changing?
→ We’re starting with just 1 feature: a Stock Screener.
The best one you’ve ever seen.
→ This time, I’ve done my product homework and compared 30+ screeners to see what works and what doesn’t.
→ Focus on objective data. Collecting user behavior analytics, and I’ll try to talk more with the audience and find out what they want.
→ I’m going to start posting regularly about the development again — even if it’s not perfect or finished, just to show how it evolves and the strategies I apply and learn along the way.
One of my main problems is that I’m pretty obsessive about details, and it’s hard for me to launch the tool if it isn’t perfect. A smaller product helps me with this.
