Software talent is in short supply, and ChatGPT won't solve it
Recently, an acquaintance asked me to start a company with him. As usual, I said no, but something caught my attention.
It was a good opportunity, with a project backlog of over €100k. It seemed like a pretty safe way to get started, but my friend couldn’t keep up with the workload.
We’re both software engineers, and he was telling me there aren’t many people you can do this kind of project with. Most good developers already have jobs and are comfortable with their conditions. Those who also have an entrepreneurial spirit have their own projects, so they’re even harder to convince.
We know a lot of friends and acquaintances who are software engineers, but only one or two are good enough for this kind of project.
There’s a huge need for software talent, and ChatGPT isn’t going to solve it.
