Have you tried it?
Only answer if you've tried Kratom. What did it do for you?
What is it?
Kratom comes from the leaves of Mitragyna speciosa, a Southeast Asian tree, and is sold as powders, capsules and extracts. People seek it for alertness, pain or attempts to stop using other opioids. Those motivations don't make it a safe treatment to manage on your own.
Plant origin doesn't prevent dependence. Similar branding also covers very different preparations. Products enriched with 7-OH, a kratom-related compound, aren't equivalent to ordinary leaf and raise particularly serious safety concerns.

What does it feel like?
Reported experiences range from increased energy to relaxation and sleepiness. Nausea, constipation, dizziness and confusion are also possible. Product contents and other substances you've taken make the effects difficult to predict.
Color labels and vendor claims don't guarantee a particular experience. Needing kratom to avoid feeling unwell can indicate dependence even if you're still working and feel that your use is under control.
What are the risks?
Dependence and withdrawal are possible, alongside liver injury or seizures. Combining kratom with medicines or other drugs can cause serious harm. Alcohol, opioids and sedatives are concerning combinations, particularly with potent extracts. Slow breathing or difficulty waking requires emergency care.
Products may contain contaminants or differ from their labels. Laws vary by location and preparation; online availability doesn't establish legality. If you're using it to stop opioids or avoid kratom withdrawal, seek medical support. Switching products doesn't by itself resolve dependence.

Every answer makes this page more accurate. Share it with people who've tried Kratom, whether it changed their life or did nothing for them.
Self-reported experiences, not medical advice. High scores mean people reported strong positive effects. They do not mean something is safe, effective long-term, or appropriate for you. Self-reports can miss delayed harms, dependence, withdrawal, side effects, and selection bias. Don't start or stop a medication because of a chart.
