What is it?

LSD microdosing means using the psychedelic with the intention of producing subtle effects rather than a full hallucinogenic trip. People seek better focus, creativity or mood. The label describes an intention, not a guarantee: product strength and individual responses vary.

Watching closely for improvement can make any good day seem like proof. Expectations are difficult to separate from drug effects, and personal accounts do not establish a treatment for depression or ADHD. Findings from supervised sessions involving a full psychedelic experience do not automatically apply to microdosing.

Survey answers are converted to these five answers. Each share above counts only the questionnaires that offered that answer, because not every survey offered all five. In Nootroflix (2022) and the SlateStarCodex 2016 nootropics survey, a 10 out of 10 rating counts as “changed my life”.

What does it feel like?

Some people report feeling more alert or cheerful; others notice little. Restlessness, distraction or excessive attention to bodily sensations can also occur. There is no particular feeling that confirms you are doing it correctly.

Anxiety has led participants to withdraw from microdosing trials. Difficulty working, sleeping or feeling settled is not something you need to endure in pursuit of a hoped-for benefit. Calling it a microdose also does not establish that you are safe to drive or unaffected during everyday tasks.

What are the risks?

Long-term safety remains poorly understood, and subtle intended effects do not remove interaction risks. Seizures have been reported with lithium and classic psychedelics; those reports cannot quantify the risk from microdosing. Do not discontinue prescribed medication to try it.

LSD does not usually produce physical dependence or a typical withdrawal syndrome, but you can come to feel you need it to work or feel well. Panic, confusion or persistent visual changes deserve medical attention. In Spain, illicit possession or use in public places can lead to fines, and trafficking is a criminal offence. The microdosing label does not create an exemption.

Self-reported experiences, not medical advice. High scores mean people reported strong positive effects. They do not mean something is safe, effective long-term, or appropriate for you. Self-reports can miss delayed harms, dependence, withdrawal, side effects, and selection bias. Don't start or stop a medication because of a chart.
