Getting older can make you more stubborn and confident

As you get older and experience more things, you change your mind about a lot of things you used to think were right.

Paradoxically, instead of understanding that this will happen again, that makes you more confident in your current views. After all, how could anyone convince me of X if I’ve already believed it and stopped believing it?

And if you’re not careful, you get older and more stubborn. You become more confident without necessarily having more evidence. As a result of life, you think you’ve gone from a kid to a master; and that very belief is what gives you away as a beginner.

It’s the eternal learner, by contrast, who becomes a master without realizing it.
