Yeah, making over 100k a year is great.

My main goal when I came to Switzerland was to find a better life: to escape the lower middle class and find hope for a brighter future.

After 9 months of working, already earning generous salaries I’d literally thought were impossible, I realized the reality of it.

I’d made a lot, but I’d also lost quite a bit: family, friends, a partner, fun...

I couldn’t have both.

Either I stayed in Switzerland for 10 or 20 years and achieved “financial independence,” or I went back to Spain sooner without having achieved much.

Luckily, along the way I realized two things:

1) Living in Switzerland made me realize just how much money flows through the world. Rivers of wealth flow everywhere; the problem is that most people only drink from a small stream that reaches them in the form of a salary, using a tiny spoon. Those with better jobs might drink from the stream with a glass or a bowl; small business owners might even use buckets. But 99% of people drink from the stream.

2) I discovered @levelsio’s Twitter. He’s living proof that you could make a living with your own projects on the internet. And this guy wasn’t just drinking from the stream; the bastard was out there digging his own trenches and capturing some of the bigger tributaries.

So I decided that my main goal while I was in Switzerland wouldn’t just be saving and investing, but also entrepreneurship.

I wanted to learn how to make a living; not just how to work for someone else.

I don’t know how this story ends, but maybe the most important thing I learned from coming to Switzerland was that I didn’t want to be here forever, that I’d lost important things, and that a life combining the best of both worlds was possible.
